BC Foundation Safety & Rescue Training

BC Foundation Safety & Rescue Training

Join us for the British Canoeing Foundation Safety and Rescue Training (FSRT) at Talkin Tarn in Cumbria. As the title suggests, during this one day training course you will explore a range of safety considerations and rescue techniques to enable you to make safe and effective decisions to firstly, prevent dangerous events and secondly, to have the knowledge and skills to offer support and assistance if required.

The course outline and syllabus can be found here, https://paddlesuptraining.com/courses/foundation-safety-and-rescue-training/

The skills and knowledge learnt on this course give an important foundation for any paddler wanting to enjoy the water safely.

Whilst there are no qualifications required to join this course, you are expected to be confident in the water with a good basic ability to paddle your chosen craft. A good bench mark is the British Canoeing Explore Award. If you feel that you are likely to need us to make any adjustments to fully include you in this course please let us know.

On this occassion the minimum age for the course is 18 years.

The venue
Talkin Adventures operate from Talkin Tarn Country Park near Carlisle. The country park is based around a glacial tarn, formed during the last ice age. Carlisle City Council manage the site and there is ample parking and a small tea room on site. Parking costs £2.30 for a full day and the tea rooms are currently limited to 11-3:30 opening for a takeaway service.

You will have access to warm showers and changing rooms during the course and the boats are a short carry to the water.
